War #I
Technique: Serigraphic print on fused and slumped glass
44 x 44 x 5 cm
Aesthetically, I address icons that have references to things and phenomena we know from our everyday lives; In this case war, which here is produced in an over-stylized aesthetic.
This could raise the questions: Is it a critique of the way we are shown war and death via news channels?
The project is technically based on “Non toxic printing”, the works are printed with water-based and lead-free colors. The project has been developed as a collaboration between Maria Sparre-Petersen and Peter Moëll Dammand.
“Non toxic printing” has arisen as a reaction to the realization that many graphic printing processes have a harmful effect on the environment and the health of the people who work with them. The pioneers in non-toxic printing have endeavored to recreate the traditional methods in order to arrive at the same print quality in the graphics. In addition, new methods have emerged and the work has therefore also led to new expressions in the graphic art of printing.
