Sky objects, a home for the sky and spirit

The Himmeli vas originally hanging in the ceiling where the purpose was to contact the sky, to ensure a good harvest. They believed the larger the Himmeli vas, the larger the rye crop will be in the coming year.    I am reaching out for the sky, in hope for a good coming year.

The crystalline structure of minerals is repeated again and again, a microcosm in which the outer shape reflects the mutual symmetry of the inner structure.

Zooming in and zooming out, the repetition and replications are reflected in space and in itself.

The technic and origins come from Himmeli, Himmeli means “heaven” and “sky” and are traditional Northern European mobiles made from reeds or straw. Traditionally the Himmeli base shape often consists of 12 fragments, which symbolize the 12 months. Their purpose was to ensure a good harvest in the following year, and it functions as a home for the crop spirit.
